About Ondine Gage

Dr. Ondine Gage is an Associate Professor of Education with an MA in Linguistics and expertise in TESOL, and a Ph.D. in Education with a concentration in Language, Literacy, and Culture studies from the University of California at Santa Cruz. She joined the College of Education at CSU Monterey Bay in 2015 as an assistant professor in the College of Education and Coordinated the University Learning Outcomes Assessment Committee for Written Communication for four years. In 2019, she was appointed Faculty Associate for the College of Education. She currently teaches courses in linguistics and language acquisition, as well as writing for Liberal Studies, where she focuses on preparing teachers to work effectively with the multilingual and diverse populations in California’s public schools. She is currently serving on the CATESOL Board as Chapter Council Chair, where she provides mentorship to language teaching professionals around the State of California. Her research and areas of interest include Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) /International Virtual Exchange (IVE), language awareness, functional linguistics, metacognition in writing and genre development, and vocabulary development. She has coordinated a TESOL program and taught in South Korea, and has extensive experience living and working in the Middle East and Europe. She is currently the Chair of the Academic Senate’s Committee on International Programs and CSUMB’s representative to CSU International Programs.
