Abstract
This paper presents the design of secondary voltage control by tuning the parameters of coordinated PID controllers to eliminate voltage violations in power system contingencies. The coordinated PID control parameters are tuned by using genetic algorithm. The study is presented on modified IEEE 14 bus system. The coordinated secondary voltage control is assigned to the generators and STATCOMs in order to eliminate voltage violations in system contingencies. Here, a contingency means a disturbance leading to tripping a generator at a certain bus. Measurements of pilot buses voltage magnitudes are done by using minimum number of phasor measurement units. Simulation and optimization studies are performed by using MATLAB / Simulink software.
