The purpose of this report is to provide a needs assessment of refugee and newcomer labour opportunities and constraints in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. The goal is for this report to serve as an early baseline rather than a definitive evaluation of the newcomer experience in the Sault Ste. Marie employment landscape. As such, we hope that practitioners, service providers, and newcomers themselves can benefit from the appraisal that we have provided. Through this report, we have provided recommendations and avenues for exploration which could enhance the transition of refugees and newcomers into the labour market, while constructively aligning the skills and interests of this group with the demands and expectations of local and regional employers.
