About Associate Prof. Dr. Noorzurani Robson

Noorzurani Robson is an Associate Professor in the Department of Primary Care Medicine and University Malaya Centre of Addiction Sciences at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur where she has been a faculty member since 1998. Noorzurani completed her PhD in the Addictions at King’s College London, University of London, London, United Kingdom and her Masters in Family Medicine and MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) studies at the University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur.
Her main research interests lie in the area of Recreational Addictions. Her research work includes nicotine addiction and smoking, heroin, ketamine and amphetamines, and other recreational drugs. Her other research areas also include psychology and public health impact of diseases.
In recent years she has focused on role of harm reduction for the treatment of recreational addictive disorders, the role of genetic disposition and tissue engineering in diseases. Most recently she has expanded her research work to include other recreational addiction such as Facebook addiction. Noorzurani has more than 50 publications (refereed journal articles, books, chapter in books, proceedings) and presented at over 50 conferences.
