About Nicola Pitchford

Dr. Pitchford currently serves as Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the Faculty at Dominican University of California. She joined Dominican in 2011 as Dean of the School of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences. Prior to arriving at Dominican, Dr. Pitchford spent most of her career at Fordham University in New York City.
Dr. Pitchford was born and raised in Great Britain. She earned her bachelor’s degree at Pomona College in English and Creative Writing and her MA and PhD from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, in English with an emphasis on modern and contemporary U.S. and British literature. Her first faculty position was as a Lecturer in the Women’s Studies Department there.
