Abstract
Proceedings of Geo-Denver 2007, New Peaks in Geotechnics, held in Denver, Colorado, February 18-21, 2007. Sponsored by the Geo-Institute of ASCE. This Geotechnical Special Publication contains 18 invited papers on problematic soils, problematic rocks, and in situ testing and characterization. Topics include: stabilizing and predicting volume changes in expansive clays; wetting-induced compression of compacted soils; collapsible soils; internal erosion; ettringite-induced heaving in sulfate-rich expansive soils; cemented soils; macroporous rock; karstic limestone; weak shale; TDR-based probes for moisture measurements; and such in situ devices as Standard Penetration, Cone Penetrometer, Dilatometer and Dynamic Cone Penetration devices to characterize different soils.
