About Dr. Nicholas Garafolo

Dr. Garafolo received his B.S. summa cum laude in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Applied Math in 2005, M.S. in Mechanical Engineering in 2006 and his Ph.D. in 2010, all from The University of Akron. His research expertise is in the area of thermo-fluid sciences and fluid-material interaction, with an emphasis in advanced aerospace seals and near-hermetic fluid flows. Before joining The University of Akron, he worked as a federal research contractor to NASA Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, Ohio under the umbrella of a multi-million dollar contract and with a Research Assistant Professor appointment in the College of Engineering at The University of Akron.
