Abstract
It is a delight and honour to introduce the Redfish
School of Change 10th Anniversary Journal. When I think of introductions I always remembersitting on a ridge atop the headwaters of the Skagit River onmy first day of Redfish in the summer of 2016, eyes closed, surrounded by my new cohort. As the North Cascade mountainbreeze whipped through our hair, Dr. Brenda Beckwith'svoice somehow found its way through the gale to my ears:

Think of greeting this or any place as entering
a portal, whether it be a new mountain range, a
watershed, even a grocery store. How many portals
have you passed through today? And have you
entered with respect and reverence? With curiosity
and intention to have a positive presence there?
Feel where you are. Listen. How is this
place introducing itself to you, and how
are you introducing yourself to it?

Redfish was filled with so many foundation-shaking ideas and moments that I am surprisedRedfish students have a foundation at all by the end of it.Oddly, students seem to leave the program with a strongerfooting than ever. Perhaps that's because the qualities thatRedfish helps us develop — like listening and seeking thatrespectful space of introduction — remind us that our stabilitycomes as we discover healthy relationships with the placeswe move through and the beings who call these places home.As you enter the portal of this journal, I invite you, too, tobe curious, to listen, and to feel where you are in this respectfulspace created by some of the Redfish instructors and alumni ofthe last decade.
