Description

Following the overthrow of Salvador Allende in 1973, the military dictatorship in Chile initiated wide-ranging neoliberal reforms along with horrific repression against working-class movements. Based on research by Bass and Linea Cutter (FCAS class of 2015), this work examines the effects of those reforms, and questions whether much of the current scholarship on the Chilean "success story" is flawed. Moreover, this research is aimed at speaking truth to power about the effects of neoliberalism on the Chilean population.
