About Nancy F. Glenn

Currently the Vice President for Research and Economic Development, Dr. Nancy Glenn joined the faculty of the Department of Geosciences at Boise State University in 2013. She has a Ph.D. in Geo-Engineering from the University of Nevada, Reno, and focuses on remote sensing research for natural resources. She was a professor at Idaho State University from 2000-2013, served as the lead scientist for a NSF Idaho EPSCoR grant to study water resources in a changing climate, and has a joint appointment with the DOE Idaho National Laboratory (INL). She established the Boise Center Aerospace Laboratory (BCAL), and the laboratory and its location have provided opportunities to collaborate with federal, state, and private agencies. Dr. Glenn’s experience in remote sensing processing and interpretation ranges from synthetic aperture radar (SAR), hyperspectral, and light detection and ranging (lidar), and incorporates high resolution global positioning systems (GPS) and the use of geographic information systems (GIS) and statistics for field validation of high resolution hyperspectral and lidar data. Research at BCAL focuses on terrain characterization with lidar and hyperspectral imagery for wind erosion prediction, remote sensing of invasive species, lidar analysis of landslides, and remote sensing of wildfire effects such as burn severity and soil water repellency. In addition to research and teaching, Dr. Glenn is an active reviewer for numerous professional journals and serves on several national committees related to remote sensing.
