About Naima Benkari

Dr. Benkari is Architect and Urban planner. She holds a Ph.D. in urban planning, M.Sc. and B. Sc. In Architectural engineering. Her experience in teaching and practicing architecture and urban planning spreads over several years and countries such as Algeria, Tunisia, France, UAE, and Oman.
After having developed and chaired the Architectural engineering program at ALHOSN University in Abu Dhabi, UAE, she is actually an Assistant professor in the department of civil and Architectural Engineering in Sultan Qaboos University, Oman.
Dr. Naima has published on topics such as Architecture education and curriculum Design, Sustainability in architecture and Urban Design curricula, built heritage preservation, architectural history, theory & criticism and the religious Architecture in the Arab and Islamic regions. She is a member of the ICOMOS and as a consultant for the Ministry of Heritage and Culture, Dr. Benkari is the Project Director of the Omani old settlements documentation and management plan.
