I am a clinical biochemist and molecular biologist, experienced in molecular cancer biomarkers and companion diagnostics for oncology. I have extensive experience in clinical assay validation (both FDA approved and Laboratory Developed Tests). I am proficient in signing out patient’s report on hemoglobin electrophoresis, serum protein electrophoresis, serum immunofixation, urine electrophoresis and immunofixations, formal consult requests for evaluation of coagulopathies and hemoglobinopathies and molecular coagulation markers. I am licensed as a high complexity clinical laboratory director per the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments of 1988 for non-physicians (non-MD/DO) as defined in the CFR 42 Part 493.1405. At Baystate Health, I am responsible for all the clinical aspects the Clinical Chemistry and Point of Care Testing operations of Baystate Health Pathology. I provide clinical consultation to physicians and other healthcare providers about the laboratory test interpretations in the subspecialty area. I ensure the clinical laboratory meets several federal and state regulations.
I am accountable for the effective management and administrations of clinical operations of the Clinical Chemistry and Point of Care Testing service within the Baystate Health Pathology operations like BFMC, BNH and BWH laboratories. I work closely with the Chair of Pathology; Vice-Chair and Clinical Affairs Chief of Pathology, Director of Lab Operations and VP of Diagnostics Services at Baystate Health to ensure the best practices in clinical laboratory and lab test utilization. As a teacher, alongside medical students, pathology residents of UMMS-B and medical technologists at Baystate Health Pathology, while practicing the science of medicine that is 'Laboratory Medicine' we study the diseases together that is 'Pathology' in formal and informal settings.
I run a non profit Foundation for Advancement of Essential Diagnostics (www.faed.in) to promote and further augment WHO's Essential Diagnostics List to better population and public health globally.
