About Monish R. Chatterjee

Monish R. Chatterjee received the B.Tech. (Hons) degree in electronics and communications cngineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India, in 1979. He received the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees, both in electrical and computer engineering, from the University of Iowa in 1981 and 1985, respectively. Dr. Chatterjee served as a visiting faculty at the University of Iowa for one year. Thereafter, he joined the ECE faculty at Binghamton University in the State University of New York system and conducted teaching and research from 1986 through 2002

Since the fall term of 2002, Dr. Chatterjee has been with the ECE department at the University of Dayton. Specializing in applied optics, he has contributed more than 125 papers to technical conferences and has published more than 60 papers in archival journals and conference proceedings. In addition, he has published more than 20 general-purpose articles on science in library reference books. Dr. Chatterjee is also largely involved in the literary field and has published numerous essays, correspondences, and four books of translation from his native Bengali (Kamalakanta; Profiles in Faith; Balika Badhu, Seasons of Life). He also maintains several blogs of essays online and participates in, and contributes to literary conferences and anthologies.
