About Monika E. Kolodziej

Dr. Monika Kolodziej’s research and clinical practice specializes in assessing and treating substance use disorders in combination with psychiatric disorders and chronic medical conditions from clinical outcomes and organizational change perspectives. She has been involved in funded projects and clinical endeavors that address: (a) pharmacotherapy for young adults in recovery from opiate addiction, (b) wellness interventions, (c) organizational endeavors to reduce tobacco use in treatment settings through the Addressing Tobacco Through Organizational Change (ATTOC) approach, and (d) integration of behavioral health care with medical care for persons with mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders.
As one of the founders of the Central Massachusetts Addiction Consortium, Dr. Kolodziej is committed to community engagement and leadership to promote treatment and recovery. In addition, she serves as an outpatient psychotherapy supervisor in the Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship, a clinical supervisor of the addiction rotation in the Psychology Internship Program, and instructor of didactic seminars to trainees, fellows, and residents. Combined, these activities allow her to have a well-rounded approach to clinical and organizational change-oriented studies and programs, to understand the importance of community partners’ engagement in all phases of study planning, including implementation and sustainability, as well as to provide evaluative input that can meaningfully impact clinical provision of services by staff and trainees alike.
