About M. Joyce Dinglasan-Panlilio

Joyce Dinglasan-Panlilio is an associate professor of Environmental Chemistry at the University of Washington Tacoma, where she has been a member of the faculty since 2007. She received a B.S. degree in Human Biology in 2000, an M.S. degree in Chemistry in 2002 and in 2008 received a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Toronto. She pioneered the lower-division General Chemistry program in her first year of appointment at UW Tacoma as well as the Organic Chemistry sequence of courses. She continues to be highly involved in curriculum development within the Sciences and Mathematics Division of the School of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences. Her research interests are in the areas of environmental organic chemistry, focusing on understanding the fate and transport of emerging organic contaminants such as chlorinated hydrocarbons and perfluorinated compounds. She is one of the first researchers to investigate potential sources of perfluorinated acid contamination in the environment. She is also passionate about improving Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education across all grade levels.
