- College of Pharmacy,
Objectives: Working together for a common goal, an approach adopted by the SUCOP DIC and Sullivan University (SU) library to provide an outstanding educational resources and services in support of SU newly established pharmacy program.
Method: Prior to the establishment of the SUCOP DIC, the library fully supported the College of Pharmacy with respect to the library educational resources in preparation for the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education pre-candidate site visit. Upon the arrival of the Director of the Drug Information Center, a need was realized to work collaboratively with the SU library. SUCOP Dean charged the two departments to develop a collaboration plan. As a result, the Library Drug Information Task Force was established. The mission statement, goals, and objectives were written by the Task Force. Periodic meetings were initiated. Collaborative processes were outlined to include: American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy membership and committee appointments, Academy of Health Information Professional certification, Interlibrary Loan programs participation, regular educational resources collection and budget review, appointment of a Liaison, development and update of Pharmacy Resource Portal, participation in lecture series for SUCOP courses, training students and faculty on pharmacy resources, conducting yearly satisfaction survey for students and faculty, table of content services for faculty, and outstanding services for SUCOP students.
Results: Detailed description and benefits of these services will be presented at the 2009 annual meeting.
Implications: SUCOP DIC and SU will continue to work collaboratively to enhance these services and to seek other avenues to expand and improve on the processes.
