About Ming-Chen Hsu

Our research interests lie in the field of Computational Mechanics, Isogeometric Analysis and Fluid–Structure Interaction (FSI) with an emphasis on contemporary engineering problems such as wind energy and biomedical applications. The focus of our research efforts is the development of accurate, robust, and efficient “design-through-analysis” frameworks and their implementation in large-scale, high-performance computing environments. Recently, we have been working on developing a Parametric Design and Immersogeometric FSI framework for the simulation of heart valve function over a complete cardiac cycle under realistic physiological conditions. This project will allow us to study detailed information of hemodynamics and cyclic stresses developed in the leaflets, and provide a unique approach to the rational development of new bioprosthetic heart valves with improved performance and durability.
