About Dr. Mildred M. Pearson (1965-2020)

Dr. Mildred Pearson taught at Eastern Illinois University in the College of Education in the Department of Teaching, Learning, and Foundations (formerly the Department of Early Childhood, Elementary, and Middle Level Education). She founded the Bridging Voices in Our Community: Bullying Project. As the past Director of Faculty Development, where she served for 6 years, Dr. Pearson laid a foundation for excellence by implementing teaching and learning workshops. Building a national network of contacts, Dr. Pearson brought several leading experts in their fields to Eastern Illinois University, a testament to her passion and enthusiasm for improving teaching and learning. Her work on bullying prevention created a venue for healthy dialogue among scholars and practitioners into a community of learners.
Dr. Pearson’s classes actively supported the mission of Eastern Illinois University: “The University community is committed to diversity and inclusion and fosters opportunities for student-faculty scholarship and applied learning within a student-centered culture.” Additionally, she embraced the integrative learning initiative as a model to help students to make connections, as they become engaged reflective practitioners.
