About Miguel Lopez-Viego

Miguel Lopez-Viego, M.D., is a board-certified general and vascular surgeon at Baptist Health and speaks fluent English and Spanish. Dr. Lopez-Viego received his medical degree from University of Miami School of Medicine, where he earned Alpha Omega Alpha status for being at the top of his medical school class. He then completed a general surgery residency — earning the Outstanding Fourth Year Resident Award — and then a vascular surgery fellowship at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas. As a specialist in both general surgery and vascular surgery, Dr. Lopez-Viego treats a wide range of conditions with a focus on aortic surgery and pancreatic cancer and esophagus cancer surgery. Dr. Lopez-Viego is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and is the author of two surgery textbooks. He holds faculty positions at Florida Atlantic University, University of Miami and Nova Southeastern University. After more than 30 years as a vascular and general surgeon, Dr. Lopez-Viego remains passionate about providing positive outcomes for his patients. He is committed to caring for his patients every step of the way, from the first time he meets them all the way to the end of their treatment. In his free time, Dr. Lopez-Viego enjoys spending time with his family saltwater fishing, spear fishing and researching military medical history.
