Engaging in assessment activities in Japanese as a second language: Longitudinal changes and usability of developed interactional competence across situations

Abstract
This study investigates the longitudinal development of L2 interactional competence and its usability across situations, focusing on two learners’ ways of engaging in assessment activities. For each learner, two first-encounter conversations recorded before and after a study-abroad period are compared with seven casual conversations recorded monthly during the study-abroad.
