I teach historical theology at Marquette University. My work on Martin Luther attempts to understand him as a later medieval Catholic. I also work in Reformation theology more broadly, especially Johannes Oecolampadius, the reformer of Basel. Ecumenical theology is a third major interest, where I put my expertise to the service of ongoing efforts to resolve the theological differences between the world's divided Christians.
