Abstract
Best-seller, fourth novel by the Swiss-French author Isabelle Flükiger, opens like a fantastic tale. Gabriel, a dog with an Archangel name, suddenly bursts into the life of the young narrator. However, this animal has the quality of bringing happiness or misfortune to its transitory owners. If, in fact, ancillary characters, such as Saïd, a Kurdish political refugee, or the old mother of an execrable neighbor, find love or fortune, the narrator and her companion, on the other hand, lose their respective jobs.
