Analyzing a Progression of Proportional Reasoning Strategies

Abstract
Proportional reasoning is a key feature of the middle school Common Core State Standards for Mathematics. Using information from the research base and the Common Core, we will construct a progression highlighting changes in student thinking from informal to formal understanding by sorting and ordering student thinking strategies, mathematical models, and word problems.
