About Michael J Lee

Michael J. Lee teaches and researches in the areas of rhetoric and political communication at the College of Charleston. Mike holds a Ph.D. in Communication from the University of Minnesota as well as M.A. (Communication) and B.A. (Political Science) degrees from the University of Georgia. (Go Dawgs!) His first book, Creating Conservatism, won four national book awards in communication. His work has also been published in such journals as the Quarterly Journal of Speech, Rhetoric & Public Affairs, Feminist Media Studies, and the Journal of Applied Communication Research. Mike has also given frequent media interviews on a number of political topics.
He regularly teaches courses in political communication including political campaign communication and media and politics. He is also the creator of a two-semester introductory communication course on eloquence that combines content from public speaking, composition, and argumentation.
