AbstractAfter months of debate, delay, and political maneuvering between the House of Commons and the Senate, the Canadian government on June 17, 2016, received royal assent for Bill C-14, its medical-assistance-in-dying legislation. Canada thus joins Belgium, the Netherlands, and the states of Oregon, Washington, Montana, and Vermont in approving legal procedures for physician-assisted dying.
