AbstractThe article discusses management lessons that can be learned by educational leaders and administrators from the business sector. The necessity of developing the management and leadership potential of departmental chairs and deans is mentioned. Combining classroom instruction, mentoring, and leadership coaching to help staff in the transition from faculty to administration is recommended. The leadership development program of General Electric is cited as a model to emulate.
