About Mike Wurtz

Mike Wurtz is an Associate Professor and Head of the University of the Pacific Library’s Holt-Atherton Special Collections and Archives. He oversees access, acquisition, and preservation of over 400 archival collections focusing on The West, as well as the largest collection of John Muir material in the world. He holds master’s degrees in both history and library science and a bachelor’s in geography. Most of his research focuses on how these three disciplines intersect and influence each other.
