DescriptionWe present here a unified way to handle the combined enforcement of safety and security through the use of patterns, in particular through the concept of Reference Monitor. A Reference Monitor is an abstract mechanism that applies authorization rules to decide access. We first define an Extended Reference Monitor with reified decisions and then apply the idea to a dual monitor that can handle security and safety.
