Abstract

The views of Dr. Michael R. Van De Mark, University of Missouri--Rolla, on epoxy ester or hybrid baking coating and the use of adhesive are discussed. An epoxy ester coating utilizes an epoxy group that reacts with carboxylic acid to form an ester and is usually a single package paint. Solid anhydrides, polyfunctonal acids or aromatic amines are used by baking epoxy systems, which will react with the epoxy group at elevated temperatures. The tasks such as defining the adhesive strength and finding an adhesive that could stick well to the coating are some of the ways in choosing the proper adhesive to use for performing puck adhesion tests.
