Proceedings of the International Annual Conference of the American Society for Engineering Management (2013, Minneapolis, MN)

Abstract

Due to the expected growth in electricity consumption per capita and as population continues to grow, the increased demand for a steady, reliable supply of electricity will stress existing electricity infrastructure throughout the United States. Policy makers and electric utilities will benefit from installing infrastructure capacity expansions and upgrades to ensure an economical price of delivering energy. Policy makers and electric utilities can benefit from this methodology by estimating the distributed cost of increasing electric distribution infrastructure and reducing demand during peak periods using demand response programs.
