Creating Accessible Documents Using Microsoft Word

Abstract
Microsoft Word is a powerful word processor. The more you can use the formatting tools in Word, the more accessible document you'll have, especially for those who are visually impaired and may need screen readers to read your documents. With more online classes and online interactions, it's even more important now to make your electronic documents accessible.

In this workshop we'll cover actions you can take, when creating a new document OR editing an old one, to make it accessible to everyone. We'll cover the following topics:
  • Formatting tools in Word
  • Headings
  • Lists
  • Meaningful hyperlinks
  • Adding Alt Text to images and tables
  • Table headings
  • Use of color to convey information
  • Using the Accessibility Checker in Word
