About Michael S. Moats

Dr. Michael S. Moats is Professor of Metallurgical Engineering and Associate Chair for Graduate Programs in the department of Materials Science and Engineering at Missouri University of Science and Technology. He was named interim chair of the Materials Science and Engineering department July 2021.

Dr. Moats received his B.S. and M.S. degrees from S&T (formerly the University of Missouri--Rolla) in Metallurgical Engineering and his Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Arizona. Dr. Moats also has a Fundamentals of Management Certificate from Case Western Reserve University ‐ Weatherhead School of Management.

Dr. Moats is also a Research Investigator in the S&T Materials Research Center as well as Manager and Owner of MSM Consulting.
