Abstract
Abstract: This unpublished paper in its current form is identical to three sections to the following previous publication: Dover, M. A. (2016, May 2017). Reflections from the Editor. Reflections: Narratives of Professional Helping, 22(2), 1-8. https://tinyurl.com/ReflectionsV22N2 Keywords: race, translinguistic, assessments, gender, totalitarian theocratic patriarchal terrorism, nativism, xenophobia, international social work, social development.
In further development of this paper, it is my goal to update its contemporary historical references in light of the continued expressions of xenophobia, Islamophobia, anti-Arab chauvinism, anti-Semitism, racism, misogyny and other manifestations of male supremacy in global political life. Empirically the goal will be to produce a table documenting numerable instances of how—contrary to the notion of ancient enmity—when women have gained civil rights within society, intermarriage rates between spouses of different “races” and ethnicities and religions and nationalities have grown significantly.
I have released this paper, very early in development, at this time, because I feel it is relevant in particular to the war in the Middle East now raging, from two sides where significant elements of the political leadership of both in Israel and Hamas are prototypical examples of this way of thinking and this kind of use of power and of dehumanizing rhetoric. In both cases, the power brokers have semi-state power (Hamas) or state power (Israel). Their interest as they see it is to prolong war and use of violence to achieve their objectives.
