About Michael C. Coker

Starting at Boise State University in 2022, Dr. Michael C. Coker is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication.  He holds a Ph.D in Communication from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, an M.A. in Mass Communication from Texas State University, and a B.A. in Mass Communication with a concentration in Broadcast Journalism from Sam Houston State University. Dr. Coker’s research focuses on marginalized and disenfranchised identities in an organized and online settings, such as how individuals perform their identities in online groups and how emotions act as organizing features of virtual and physical spaces. Relatedly, Dr. Coker explores intersections between work and life, including how personal and professional identities, norms, and emotions spillover into alternate domains.
