About Michael P. Alfano

Michael P. Alfano is currently Vice President for Strategic Initiatives. In this role, Dr. Alfano will provide collaborative leadership for the planning, implementation and surveillance of key institution-wide priorities and goals. This includes analyzing new opportunities and partnering with senior leadership to develop and initiate short-term and long-term strategic initiatives. Dr. Alfano will also be developing cross-functional work groups for the development of large cross-organization goals and will provide financial planning to ensure resources for these projects.
Dr. Alfano joined the University in January 2018 as the dean of the Farrington College of Education & Human Development. Most recently, he served as vice provost for strategic partnerships while continuing to serve as dean. In that role, he developed academic partnerships in the region (in both the private and public sectors) to help meet external organizations’ specific education and training needs, solicited market- and employer-specific information to help inform academic decision-making and connected organizations with relevant internal offices outside the division of academic affairs
