To help law schools live up to the new ABA transparency and accountability principles, deans, administrators, and faculties need to refine their approaches to shared governance to ensure that the new accreditation expectations permeate the learning outcomes we seek for our students and all areas of law school administration. While many law schools have begun to undertake this process, others are still a work in progress. This workshop aims to help deans, administrators, and faculty leaders understand what's required, what's at stake, and how to plan effectively for the new paradigm. This session will: outline and discuss the most significant changes in accreditation standards, compliance reporting requirements, and rankings formulae and their implications for law school administration and pedagogy; offer management, planning, and communications strategies to assist deans and prospective deans in identifying and working with stakeholders, implementing the standards, promoting transparency, and ensuring effective communication; and present case studies.
