About Dr Megan Yucel

Dr Megan Yucel is a Research Fellow at the Australian Council for Educational Research, where she has the role of educational test developer in ACER's Assessment and Reporting division. In the course of her career as an educator, Megan has worked as an examiner, teacher trainer, materials designer and test writer in Turkey, the United Kingdom and Australia. She has extensive experience in both teaching and creating support materials for students from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. She is co-author of the edX IELTS Academic test preparation course, one of the 50 most popular MOOCs of all time, based on enrolments. As a test writer and examiner, she has worked on a range of large-scale national and international tests, assessing a variety of skills, including listening, reading, writing, speaking, and use of English. Megan’s PhD research focused on English language assessment, exploring the perceptions of candidates in a high-stakes test. Her latest publication is an IELTS-funded research project which investigated stakeholder perceptions of IELTS in Japan.
