About Md. Nurul Alam

Multiple Hazard Risk Assessment ,Seismic Risk Assessment and Disaster Risk Reduction are my fields of expertise.
Currently I am working as a Senior Structural Engineer at the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center. Earlier, I worked as a Graduate Research Assistant/Teaching Assistant in the School of Engineering under the University of British Columbia-Okanagan, Canada. I also have worked as a Structural Engineer and Project Coordinator under Urban Disaster Risk Management (UDRM), Earthquake and Tsunami Preparedness Program in Bangladesh (Dhaka, Chittagong and Sylhet City), within Comprehensive Disaster Management Program (CDMP), Bangladesh-a program of UNDP for the last couple of years. Moreover, I worked as a field team leader & project coordinator in the ERRP program of UNDP-CHTDF. I have provided structural engineering inputs to devise earthquake vulnerability assessment and seismic hazard risk assessment in the Asia Pacific region. Besides, I have also worked as a Lecturer in the Civil Engineering Dept. of Military Institute of Science & Technology (MIST), Dhaka prior joining to DRR fields.
