About Chris Cox

Professor Chris Cox is the Director of Trial Advocacy and an Assistant Professor of Law. Prior to joining Campbell Law, Cox served in the U.S. Navy for over 20 years, during which time he deployed to Afghanistan and at sea in the Pacific area of operations numerous times. He last served as a trial judge, presiding over criminal cases.

Cox obtained his J.D. from Northern Illinois University and his M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Illinois system.

Throughout his distinguished career, Cox has been the recipient of numerous prestigious accolades. Most notably, he was awarded the Specialist II designation, Military Justice Litigation Career Track and the Meritorious Service Medal. He was also awarded the American Bar Association LAMP Distinguished Service Award.

Cox’s research interests focus on the criminal justice system, assessing procedure and decision-making of court actors.
