About Matthew P. Earnhardt Ph.D.


Matthew Earnhardt is a tenure track, Assistant Professor of Leadership in the College of Business at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University – Worldwide. Dr. Earnhardt is the Chair of the Department of Organizational Leadership and previously served as the Assistant Program Chair and Program Chair for the Master of Science in Leadership Program.

Dr. Earnhardt has a Doctor of Philosophy in Organizational Leadership with an emphasis in Global Leadership from Regent University’s School of Business and Leadership; a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Liberty University. Additionally, he is finishing a Master of Science in Aeronautics with specializations in Aviation/Aerospace Education Technology, Human Factors in Aviation Systems, Aviation/Aerospace Safety Systems, Aviation/Aerospace Operations, and Aviation/Aerospace Managementfrom Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

Dr. Earnhardt’s research is in the areas of project management, aviation and aerospace management, complex adaptive leadership, leadership behaviors, and critical thinking. He is a prolific researcher with articles published in the International Journal of Leadership and Change, Journal of Modern Project Management, Journal of Child and Adolescent Trauma, International Journal of Aviation, Aeronautics, and Aerospace, International Leadership Journal, Graziadio Business Review, Academy of Educational Leadership Journal, Sage Open, Journal of Biblical Integration in Business, Organisational Project Management, Emerging Leadership Journeys, and Leadership Advance Online. He has also taught, presented, and conducted workshops at several high profile conferences including the International Leadership Association Global Conference, AACSB Assessment Conference, Aviation, Aeronautics, and Aerospace International Research Conference, and the Annual International Conference on Critical Thinking and Educational Reform.

Prior to a career in education at several colleges and universities, Dr. Earnhardt was a military veteran and an analyst for Lockheed Martin Corporation in the intelligence field. He enjoys working with non-profits, watching sports, bike riding, swimming, reading, and time with his family.
