Abstract

1st paragraph in lieu of abstract For the past three years we have been involved in a research project focused on the ethical dilemmas faced by Canadian health professionals working with humanitarian or development agencies. In interviews, twenty professionals (mostly nurses and physicians) told us about providing health services in the Global South, in contexts of disaster, conflict, post-disaster or post-conflict rehabilitation, or health-related development. They described in particular the morally challenging situations they encountered, their understandings of these situations, and their responses.
