About Matthew Pinsker

Pinsker previously held visiting fellowships at New America Foundation, the Strategic Studies Institute at the US Army War College, and the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia. He graduated from Harvard College and received a PhD in modern history from the University of Oxford. He is the author of two books: Abraham Lincoln –a volume in the American Presidents Reference Series, and Lincoln’s Sanctuary: Abraham Lincoln and the Soldiers’ Home (2003). 

Pinsker has also published widely on the history of American politics, contributing to the Journal of American History and several other academic journals and newspapers such as the Los Angeles Times, Philadelphia Inquirer, and USA Today

He sits on the advisory boards of several historic organizations, such as the Ford’s Theatre Society, the Gettysburg Foundation, the National Civil War Museum, and President Lincoln’s Cottage at the Soldiers’ Home.
