Abstract

This workshop will focus on simple therapeutic techniques that are useful for all adults to support young children’s social and emotional health and well-being. Participants will first explore social and emotional competence and how the use of intentional language and use of self can enhance the quality of the adult-child relationship. Next strategies of active engagement, emotional expression and limit setting will be discussed and demonstrated. These strategies are helpful for children exhibiting both externalizing and internalizing behavior.
