Dr. Bennett is the former director of WKU School of Nursing. Her research interests fall into three main categories. The first involves factors related to use of complementary and alternative therapies and the effects of these therapies on stress and immune function. Her work has examined the effects of laughter, massage therapy, relaxation therapy and music therapy. The second area is improving nursing care of end-of-life patients. Her current work is focused on increasing nursing student retention and outcomes in light of the current nursing shortages.
