Abstract

Technology has become commonplace in all areas of society from personal to professional use, so it stands to reason the use of technology in graduate nursing academia would be just as common. Graduate nursing students and faculty may find using simulation to be beneficial and rewarding when assessing the readiness and level of advanced nursing practice assessment skills and competency performance as students progress toward a role transition. As innovative technologies continue to grow in academia, the use of simulation to evaluate and further develop assessment skills of nurse practitioner students will continue to expand while allowing nurse practitioner students to develop confidence and competency in physical assessment skills with clear and concise feedbback from faculty (Loomis, 2016; Phillippi, Bull, & Holley, 2013).
