About Mary Sharpe

Mary Sharpe received her MSN from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and her BSN as well as a BS in mathematics from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She has been teaching undergraduate nursing courses as an associate teaching professor at UMSL since 2014. Prior to that, she has had over thirty years of nursing experience in the areas of neurological intensive care, geriatric nursing, school nursing, and teaching women’s reproductive health in an outpatient setting. Using her mathematics degree, she spent three years working in the insurance industry rating managed health care plans and small group trusts. She is currently the faculty adviser to the Student Nurses’ Association. She enjoys working with the students in the clinical setting and has attended teaching workshops to enhance their learning experiences in the lab and classroom. Volunteer work with the Muscular Dystrophy Association have been a source of rewarding experiences and public health service, spanning over thirty years.
