AbstractMoore reviews the book Ode to Lata, by Ghalib Shiraz Dhalla. Ali searches for love in all the wrong places and ends up in bed with men of all races in this wrenching, rewarding debut novel. Ghalib Shiraz Dhalla's narrator is a twenty something East Indian banker by day and a somewhat desperate club habitue by night. Originally from Mombasa, Kenya, he has settled in the States after university. He's an intriguing melange of emotions, drawing inspiration from his parents' stormy, abusive relationship without dwelling on the bruises it left.
