About Marshall Welch

My current role and scholarly interests are in service-learning and related areas of interest regarding reflection, institutional support of service-learning, community partnerships, and the "spirituality of service-learning." I am the Director of the Catholic Institute for Lasallian Social Action (CILSA) at Saint Mary's College of California where I oversee the service-learning, community based research, and social justice coursework. Prior to this role, I was the Director of the Lowell Bennion Community Service Center at the University of Utah where I also coordinated service-learning. I was a faculty member and department chair in the Department of Special Education at the University of Utah preparing teachers to work with students with disabilities before I shifted my scholarly interests and administrative duties to service-learning.
