Abstract

The article presents information on a sagebrush sandal that was discovered in a cave located on Hart's Creek in Owyhee County, Idaho. Found in 1929, the cave floor was reported to be covered with a layer of ash and also yielded five projectile points, two knives, a bone awl and a wooden bipoint. The article discusses the sandal and examines the production of perishable items in southern Idaho. Radiocarbon dating indicates that the sandal dates to the Pleistocene/Early Holocene era. The article also discusses the rarity of perishable items in southern Idaho.
