Abstract
The article discusses the approaches of British novelist Doris Lessing's historical and speculative aesthetic and ideological forms. Topics discussed include analysis of a pivotal scene from "The Four-Gated City;" her protest against nuclear weapons organized by Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND); and the Lessing's semiautobiographical heroine "Martha Quest."
